I graduated from Brigham Young University with a BA in editing and the linguistics of English. While there, I learned both the business and the craft of writing science fiction and fantasy from #1 New York Times best seller Brandon Sanderson. I also ran BYU's speculative fiction magazine, Leading Edge.

Since graduating, I have worked as a technical editor and layout designer for a Utah technology training company; the managing editor for Emerald Sky, a speculative fiction e-magazine; and the copyeditor for national nonfiction books at Cedar Fort Publishing. Throughout my experiences, I've moderated convention panels on writing and edited stories by award-winning authors Dan Wells, David Farland, Robison Wells, and Mary Robinette Kowal. One of my clients recently won second place in the Writers of the Future Contest with the story I edited.

ABOUT THE EDITOR

It's rare to find an editor with a sharp eye for minor details and big picture issues. Daniel Friend can do it all.

I've never had an edit done where I agreed with so many of the changes.
